Technical description FT-991A

Like all modern transceivers, the Yaesu FT-991A is equipped with the latest DSP technology. This ensures excellent reception through almost freely selectable filter bandwidths, notch filters and noise reduction. The receiver operates from 30 kHz to 56 MHz, 118 to 164 MHz and 420 to 470 Mhz as a triple super (FM and C4FM: double super) and thus enables very good values regarding sensitivity and large-signal behaviour.

On the transmitting side, a parametric microphone equaliser ensures the best modulation. A voice memory is built in (voice keyer). Of course, the familiar Yaesu comfort functions for telegraphy (zero beat tuning, contest keyer...) can also be found on the FT-991A. With the factory installed TCXO, the transceiver achieves a frequency stability of ± 0.5 ppm.
For friends of digital operating modes, the FT-991A offers a USB interface directly from the factory. With a suitable driver and software, you can quickly be on the air in digital modes such as RTTY, PSK31 or WSJT without the need for an additional sound card interface. The USB interface also offers a CAT function for remote control of the transceiver.
To be prepared for the future on VHF/UHF, Yaesu equips the FT-991A with the new digital operating mode C4FM. Thus, in addition to FM and SSB, operation via Yaesu "System Fusion" repeaters is also possible in C4FM. The C4FM modulation mode offers many advantages such as good intelligibility, high compression and variable bandwidth usage. In addition to the digitised speech, other digital data can also be transmitted simultaneously.
